Volunteer Policy
The City of Vergennes Recreation Department welcomes volunteers who help support programs, events, and community activities. Volunteers must be formally approved by the City and serve under the direction and supervision of Recreation Department staff.
Volunteers may assist with recreation programs, community events, parks and facility support, administrative tasks, and special projects. All volunteer duties must be assigned and approved in advance.
To ensure safety and accountability, volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Agreement Form and may be subject to background checks, particularly when working with children, seniors, or other vulnerable populations. Volunteers receive appropriate training and safety guidance before beginning service.
Authorized volunteers are not City employees.
The Recreation Department is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive volunteer experience and reserves the right to supervise, modify, or discontinue volunteer service as needed.
