G4H Learn to Skate and Play

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

Designed for children in grades K – 6, the G4H Learn to Skate & Play program is geared towards beginner skaters with limited on-ice experience. Each session will primarily focus on ice skating basics with a small portion of each class dedicated to practicing beginner stick skills and supervisedfree play/practice. Registrants will be placed into groups based on age and skill level with developmentally appropriate instruction provided by our experienced coaching staff.

Please note: This program is for beginner skaters/players only.  Participants should have limited skating experience and an interest in learning to skate and trying/playing hockey.  Those who can already skate with the basics of forward stride, backwards skating skills, and the ability to stop should not sign up for this program.  G4H reserves the right to redirect parties too advanced for this program to other programs within and outside G4H and Vergennes Parks & Recreation. If you have questions about whether or not your potential participant is a good fit, please contact us at info@girls4hockey.com.
Additional Course Details: As this program will be held outdoors, often in below freezing temperatures, participants should plan to dress warmly and in multiple layers. Items required to participate include (at minimum) skates, helmet, and gloves/mittens. Skates & helmets can be borrowed from Vergennes Parks &
Recreation. Gloves/mittens must be brought from home (hockey gloves work too!). Though not required, we also recommend knee or elbow pads for additional protection (hockey/bike/skateboard all acceptable - please put this protective gear UNDER pants/gear if possible so participants don't slide as they try to get up off the ice). Full hockey equipment can also be worn if desired. Sticks can be brought or borrowed.

* Adjustments and discounts will be applied during checkout if applicable. *
