We will be offering three swim levels on weekday evenings this summer. These are designed to promote water safety in our community. There will be 2 different classes offered in this session.
(Confident) 4 year olds and up
Designed to teach swimmers beginning skills and improve confidence for a positive aquatic learning experience. Basic skills will lead to more confident independence in the shallow end of the pool. Skills include comfort in submerging face and body, retrieving items from underwater, floating on back without assistance, jumping into the water safely from the steps and/or the side of the pool, and beginning to propel in a frontwards motion in the water.
Ages 6 and up
Swimmers in this group must be comfortable with their face in the water so they can begin to focus on improving their ability to move safely and effectively in the water. Skills to be covered include; jumping into pool feet first, submerging and holding breath underwater, floating on back and front, opening eyes underwater, front and back glides, and introduction to arm and leg movement to propel oneself in the water.
Ages 6 and up
Swimmers in this group will be moving over into the center of the pool to continue gaining strength and confidence as they move through the water. Swimmers must be comfortable with their face in the water. Skills to be covered include; performing kicks with basic arm strokes to move from the shallow towards deeper water, fully submerging with ease and holding breath, floating face down and on back, learning to change directions while swimming. Noodles and kick boards will be used for portions of the class.
*This is a 7 day lesson program, the 8th day is in case of cancellations. If no cancellations have occurred the 8th day will be used for course evaluations and free swim.
